Here are a couple of my homework efforts for the water colour class I'm taking. Because I cycle to the art class, I have a half board with only a half sheet of paper and I have to divide it into three so I get this odd shape. But I like the challenge of making it work - in the landscape format, it's quite theatrical. As you can see, I use the homework exercises to play more with vessels and shadows.

I think the dramatic shape adds interest to your compositions. these are wonderful, Alison.

I LOVE these! The bit of color and dramatic lighting works beautifully with these shapes

Lovely shapes and such lovely work makes my scribbles look just like that, scribbles. Lucky you to be able to get to art classes, mine are so few and far apart.

Wow, you are on a rock and roll at present! Even though you are highly competent enough to go it alone, being part of a stimulating class can add ideas and feedback.

I love long thin formats, and have been toying with the idea of making up a long thin sketchbook for myself.
