This is lovely, Alison.Do you still use your Still Life Box, to study light and shadow? I've thought about making one but mine wouls have to collapse because I live in fairly small space. annie
Yes, Annie, this still life is set up that way. You could make a collapsible box - fix the edges together with sticky backed velcro strips. Thanks for stopping by.
As a well-known redhead once said, 'Please explain'! Hey, what is a Still Life Box? Is it a way of framing your objects? w. Of course I like your use of texture here.
I can't seem to get a direct link, Wendy, but if you look at the 'still life' link on my home page you will see a photo of the set-up box - just a 2 side + bottom, white box to make a corner really.
Inspired by Neil Curtis in his book, 'The Memory Book', my memory paintings catch impressions and moments from my first ten years, in St Andrews, Scotland in the 60's. They are all 12 x 9 cm, mostly pen and watercolour, on Arches HP. They are now published in an 8" x 10" book through Blurb.

This is a very nice sketch. I really like the background.
Fantastic sketch Alison, I think my sketching is getting much sketchier, probably because I seem to be always short of time.
I wish you a merry Christmas and all the best for 2009!
Another fabulous Morandi. I still haven't made my light box. How do you avoid tripping over the cord of the light?
Hi Alison, I am back online after a lot of internet probs. There's an award for you to pick up on my blog, if you want it!
Lovely drawing, especially the patterns of light and shade!
