My sister is visiting for a month with her baby and so I get to have a turn of Shula, aged 7 1/2 months. Swaddle her firmly, put on some peaceful music and within minutes, she is ready for her modelling work and I am in right-brain mode.
An hour later, we have one un-grumpy baby and two sketches.
After this nap, Shula scavenged for 'droppings' on the kitchen floor and then we read Where is Spot?

What lovely delicate drawings. Asleep is really the only time you can draw them properly isn't it. How nice for your sister to have Shula recorded like this.

these are treasures! They are so well drawn and beautifully capture the serenity of a sleeping babe!

Lovely. Having a baby in the house really changes perspective. One time I looked after a prem baby while her mum had surgery and I was so spaced out, soft and nuzzling everything, I couldn't continue with my studies at the uni for a time. that baby is now 21!

With just a few delicate lines you have a sleeping baby-- the drawings
are like caresses.

You put me to shame Alison, Millie is usually awake when I see her and she is as bald as an egg still and just a couple of weeks younger than your sisters child.I must try and find time to sketch her but they and we are so busy.
Lovely rain at the moment, at last.

I only drew my babies a couple of times while they were sleeping but those drawings are so important now. Yours are beautiful! They will be treasures forever.
