Auntie S sometimes came for Christmas. She always gave us the best books. She wrote our names in with a fountain pen even though she could have used a Biro. Sometimes, Auntie S read just to me.
Auntie S was a bit of a puzzle. She wasn't married and had her own house. She was a headmistress - I couldn't imagine her strapping a queue of children or even confiscating someone's marbles. Her eyes were too twinkly and she was too smiley.
Auntie S - 80 years young today - happy birthday to you. Thank you for all the fond memories.

I love both of these and the wonderful memory of a special aunt! All children need such a neat person to bring them great books and read to them.

Alison, it's a miracle. thanks for your comment on my blog. Just last night I was thinking about you because I couldn't remember the name of the person that did the memory drawings I loved so much. Now, I know. Lydia (artyvelarde)

What precious memories! I love the way you're laying in her lap while she is reading.

I had an auntie like this whom died way too young. I hope I'm thought of as this kind of auntie as well.

Lovely tribute to an aunt. My aunts are all so different and some gone now. I look like one or two of them, poor dears! Some elderly unmarried aunts are special - as some of them lost sweethearts in World War 2.

The softness of the gentle memory and the softness of the textures of the fabrics and the colors is wonderful.
